About me
I'm Sam, an illustrator based in the South West of England, specialising in intricate pen-and-ink drawings. My work is inspired by the occult, folk horror, and unpopular culture, creating detailed illustrations for comics, posters, books, and editorial projects.
I hold an MA in Authorial Illustration from the University of Falmouth and a BA in Prop Making and Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Before becoming a freelance illustrator, I spent several years training and working in theatrical art departments. That background gave me a strong understanding of visual storytelling and immersive design that continues to shape my illustration practice today.
Since going freelance, I've collaborated with clients including Eek Film Club, self-published two books, Zero Mardian and Gig Pigs, and built a prolific catalogue of original art prints. Whether working on commissioned projects or personal work, I'm drawn to obsessing over every inch of the page, packing it with as much information as it will hold.
